How To Convert Pantone PMS to CMYK in CorelDraw

Using a Pantone Ink is a great way for a business to maintain a consistent colour identity throughout their print collateral. Unfortunately, using Pantone colours gets expensive and leaving PMS colours in your file when printing in CMYK causes issues with colour accuracy, so we require all colours to be converted to CMYK beforehand to ensure accurate printing.

Due to the way Corel works with colours, you will only be able to convert objects of the same colour at the same time. This means that you will not be able to select objects of different colours, and convert them all at the same time. You will have to do this colour by colour.

Go ahead and start by selecting the object you wish to convert. You will notice the colour information in the bottom right will show the Pantone colour name. Double click on the colour name. This will open up the colour properties for that object.

To convert this to CMYK, click the Modals tab on the top left of this window. In this tab you should see a drop down labeled Modal with different colour modes in the menu. Select CMKY and click OK.

If you look back at the colour information in the bottom right, it now has the CMYK value instead of the Pantone name. This means the conversion was successful. Go ahead and repeat this step for any other objects that need converting.

Congratulations! You now know how to convert Pantone colours to CMYK.
